GPSA Resources

WYCC is a member of the Greater Peninsula Swim Association (GPSA). Founded in 1963, the GPSA is a recreational summer swim league comprised of three divisions and 19 teams on the Virginia Peninsula. The purpose of the league is to promote competitive swimming within our local communities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and York County. WYCC Sea Turtles were one of the original swim teams in the GPSA and are currently in the White Division with 5 other teams.

Helpful Hints:

  • The order of events and qualifying times can be found under the “City Meet Info” tab on the GPSA Website.
  • Please bring chairs, hats and sunscreen to all swim meets.
  • For younger swimmers, please help them get to Clerk of Course before each event. It is also important to keep your swimmers with you and settled down. This helps swimmers to line up as well as have energy for their event.
  • During a League Meet, the scoring table area is restricted to officials. Our team can be disqualified if an unofficial parent or swimmer approaches the scoring table. It is located near the starting blocks with the scorekeepers and ribbon writers.
  • Parents are not allowed to take pictures behind the starting blocks.
  • GPSA does not allow alcoholic beverages on the pool deck during a swim meet.
